ZumoCast v1.0.17 Android apk app
Requirements: Android 2.0
Overview: Access your files, music and stream/transcode videos on the fly via your mobile device.
From your desktop to your mobile device
- Download/Browse files
- Stream Music
- Stream and Transcode Video Files on the Fly (works even over 3G!)
Ripped from Motorola Droid 3 ROM dump.
ZumoCast is back! Originally with desktop browser client and mobile clients only available on the iPhone and iPad, late last year they were bought by Motorola and now the tables have turned, iPhone/iPad support has been currently dropped with the latest desktop client application and exclusive Android client version has been bundled with the Droid 3 with more official device support to come later.
However it already works on other devices, this apk has been tested and verified to work great on an EVO 4G running CM7 Gingerbread. Streaming has been tested with various videos, 720p mkvs stream fine even over 3G! However some 1080p mkvs refused to be processed, even through the desktop browser interface (which used to work) or from the mobile application, hopefully that can be resolved in a later version (maybe it just needs more time to index the files properly).
To setup streaming is easy. First download the free Windows or Mac client from the home page and setup the app to share your files/media choosing which folders and/or drives you wish to share. Give it a bit a time to catalog and index your files and then install the apk and login with your account to access your files, music, and videos.
Note: Registration is supposed to be open but I couldn't find a sign up link, I signed up for a ZumoCast account way back when they only had an iPhone/iPad/Desktop browser support, before the Motorola buy out and have been testing with that account.
